Free Gongfu Tea Service & Meditation
Jan. 31
Please join Brother River for a complimentary Gongfu Tea service and meditation.
Gongfu Cha in Chinese means “Making tea with effort”. It is the practice of serving and drinking tea with Mindfulness. To fully engage with this moment, and to celebrate the beauty that resides within all things. Even a small cup of tea, the rising steam from a boiling kettle, the song of a bell, the subtle scent of earth or smoke in the leaves, or the warmth of the cup in the hands.
The tea service has been an integral part of the Zen Buddhist practitioner and has a rich history throughout Zen history in China.
Through the practice of Gongfu tea service, one practices living in the present moment through mindfulness, allowing tranquility to arise from single-pointed focus, and developing the skill of attention, which gives rise to a quiet mind.
Brother River will be serving a variety of Chinese teas, and there will be opportunities to sit in meditation, practice mindful drinking, along with the chance to ask questions.
